Fall Staff Style!

Each member of the Altar team has their own unique and expressive style--it is truly a facet of the artistic personalities we work alongside. Every day, we are also the benefactor of seeing new work from a huge mix of manufacturers from all over North America who are innovating design sensibilities in a myriad of categories. As you can imagine, we all have a penchant for styling these pieces, whether it is modern and minimal, bohemian and vintage-inspired, moody and gothy, alternative and edgy, and everything in between: there are combinations of expressive pieces that capture the mood and the elements we individually identify with.

That is to say, as well, that all of these style points share a common focus on sustainable, ethical production standards.

Our staff style this year culls on a mix of rad apparel manufacturers (in addition to our houseline which we produce right down the street from our store). We thought it best to let each staff member describe their own perspective on the selections they’ve made:

Ann: I really like to go for versatility in my style and pick pieces I can wear a bunch of different ways and accessorize easily so I end up wearing a lot of black. Lately I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with layering different textures and bringing in minimal patterns. I'm currently living in the arches top from North of West!

Jared: I really love wearing anything that’s flattering on the body, or skin tight. The bodysuit and leggings I’m wearing are both by Rogue Minx, who I’m a fan of, and the body chain is of course by Iron Oxide. I love the binding on the side of the bodysuit and the bit of leather on the leggings. So, I enjoy wearing anything that has a hint of future, or kink subtlety .

Amy: I typically stick to black but I'm trying to work some more pattern and neutral fall colors that don't feel like too far of a stretch for me into my wardrobe.

Elizabeth: I love bodysuits; there are so many ways to style them and they contour outfits really well. This body suit from Rogue Minx has a great body-con fit in a beautiful color-way.

Katie: This time of year can be a bit of a downer as the weather shifts, so vibrant color blocking adds a little a lift in spirit. This Altar Houseline two-toned kaftan drapes so softly and has my favorite color combo of the season. Luscious velvet: into it.

Cassie: I’m wearing little Dez. He’s the newest member of the Altar team and he’s wearing a special custom baby Altar sweatshirt. One of the perks of knowing so many talented manufacturers is that they can often make items with a special attention to customer requests. We have rad new Altar sweatshirts (in adult sizes only)!!

Gabriella: I obviously went for the “understated look” with my One Imaginary Girl Red Wink Jumpsuit. This jumpsuit fits like a glove and has a unique print created by the designer. I love that it is has ¾ sleeves so it can be worn in mixed seasons.

Andrea: The Altar Houseline jumpsuit is the perfect foundation for layering a comfy and stylish outfit for fall. I especially love pairing it with a button down or turtleneck underneath, and a big statement necklace for extra oomph.
